After you have attended a KGNU Volunteer Orientation, if you are interested in learning more about becoming a KGNU on-air DJ, you must attend a KGNU Virtual DJ Training. This introductory session will give you a closer look at KGNU’s music programming and ethos, and get you started on your first task towards becoming a DJ at KGNU.
Participation in KGNU’s on-air music DJ training involves the following steps:
- Sign up for and attend a KGNU Virtual Music DJ Training (shifts listed below). Please only sign up for one shift.
- Record a voice break demo from home and submit it to Joel Davis, Radio Training Instructor (instructions will be given during workshop).
- Once demo is approved, schedule in-person training in Boulder/Denver studio. Learn how to create an in-studio demo. (**Please note: a fee is required for in-person trainings)
- Schedule solo studio time to practice and create an in-studio demo. Submit demo to your instructor.
- Once demo is approved, a final in-studio finishing touches training will be scheduled and you will be put on the schedule for your first on-air shift (all new DJs begin their on-air work in the late night blocks).
You must attend a KGNU Volunteer Orientation before you can participate in our virtual music DJ training program.
If you have any questions about this process, please email Joel Davis at rtc@kgnu.org.
