Description

This workshop led by Rocky Mountain Community Radio Managing Editor (and former KGNU News Director) Maeve Conran will focus on how to find and develop compelling story ideas for radio.

We’ll explore where story ideas come from, including public meetings, community events, press releases, local government agendas, beat reporting, data, and everyday conversations, and discuss how to move beyond simply covering events to uncover deeper, more meaningful stories.

In the workshop we will discuss what makes a strong radio story, with an emphasis on audio storytelling.

Participants will practice identifying, developing, and pitching story ideas during hands-on exercises throughout the workshop. We hope participants will leave the workshop with a concrete story idea to develop for KGNU.

Please note this will be an in-person training at our Gnu Community Media & Cultural Center at 1720 14th St!

**Please only sign up for this event if you have already attended a KGNU volunteer orientation.

I have set an RSVP limit because of the size of the room we're planning to use, but if you want to RSVP and it doesn't let you, send me an email. -Abby
